Disclosure

What we are, and what we’re not.

We do not provide financial advice

Compare The Mortgage publishes factual information about lenders’ published rates, cashback offers and the terms attached to them, and performs arithmetic on figures you enter yourself. That is information, not advice. Nothing on this site is a recommendation and you should not rely on it as one.

We are not a financial advice provider and not an FSP

We are a lead generation service. We are not a lender, we are not a financial advice provider, and we are not registered on the Financial Service Providers Register. When you ask for a second opinion, we pass your details to a licensed financial advice provider. That adviser gives you their own disclosure information, including their FSP number and how they are paid, before they give you any advice.

How we are paid

You pay us nothing. We are paid by the adviser or their firm when business they receive from us settles. That means we have a commercial interest in you speaking to an adviser, and you should read what we publish with that in mind. It is also why we publish the cashback clawback periods and the costs of moving — a switch that is wrong for you is worth nothing to anyone.

Where our numbers come from

Rates and cashback offers are collected from lenders’ own published material. They change without notice and can be wrong or out of date by the time you read them. Market figures are sourced from the Reserve Bank of New Zealand and named on the page where they appear. Where we have not been able to verify something — a clawback period, for instance — we say so rather than publish a number we cannot stand behind.

Your details

We pass your details to a licensed financial advice provider so they can contact you about your enquiry. We do not sell your data to any other party, and we do not pass it to multiple brokers to compete over.
